It’s being called a clog comeback. But the truth is, clogs have never really gone away. This is a shoe that has likely been around for millennia, though its origins are most commonly cited as Netherlands in the 13th century. The clog had its start protecting the feet of labourers, often fashioned entirely in wood.
A Trend To Know

Clogs

Today, clogs are a shoe worn to make a statement, albeit a statement with nostalgic roots. Worn with wide-leg jeans, a pair of clogs chimes with a 1970s sensibility, but in 2025 anything goes, with the style set choosing to wear theirs with more relaxed trousers, or skirts and socks.

Anatomy of Our Clogs
At Ancient Greek Sandals, we have a range of clog styles, built upon two soles, either a low (4cm) or regular (5cm) wooden base. The lightweight wood, cushioned leather insole and non-slip grip make the clogs wearable and comfortable – no doubt a long way from this style’s roots.
